Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) Concentration

Students in this concentration take 6 credits of substance use disorder (SUD) courses as part of their elective course requirements. They must additionally complete a practicum and internship in at a field placement site that focuses on SUD treatment.

Students are not guaranteed a practicum placement in a SUD facility and must interview for placement in the second semester of their first year.

Students pursuing this concentration will be eligible for the CSAC Certificate upon graduation. Please note that in addition to completing these requirements, the State of Hawaiʻi currently requires CSAC applicants to pass a national exam, submit other documentation and complete a background check.
